The xx have described the sound of their forthcoming second album Coexist as "adventurous".
The trio, who won the 2010 Mercury Prize for their self-titled debut album, said the process of recording the follow-up had been "pretty relaxed".
Oliver Sim from the band told Radio 1's Zane Lowe "it was easy to do what we wanted".

The xx - Oliver Sim, Romy Madley Croft, Jamie Smith Two of them met because their parents were friends. They were only two years old at the time. Maybe three. At that age, your parents choose your friends for you. The boy and girl went to nursery school together, then primary school, then college. When they were 15, they formed a band.
Oliver Sim Six years later, their band was nominated for the 2010 Mercury Prize. They were up against Paul Weller, Dizzee Rascal, Mumford & Sons and Laura Marling. They won. That was surreal. One of their songs, Intro, was sampled by Rihanna for Drunk on Love. That was even more surreal. The same song was used by the BBC during coverage of the British general election.
They found that to be the most surreal of all. Throughout all this, they toured the world together, living in each other's pockets, but their friendship remained strong.
''I don't remember life before her,'' the boy says, uttering a line that could be a lyric from one of their songs.

The xx performed recently in Barcelona, Spain, in the Primavera Sound festival. The xx are an indie rock band from London, England, United Kingdom, formed in 2005. They met while studying at Elliott School.XX is an alternative trio hailing from London, England, featuring dual vocals of Romy Madley Croft (guitar) and Oliver Sim (bass) and backed by Jamie Smith (beats MPC samplers).
When The xx started, there were four members... The xx became a trio when their second guitarist and keyboardist Baria Qureshi left the group in late 2009.
"xx" was the first album of the band and it was released at 2009.
The xx have announced their second album will be titled 'Coexist' and released on September 10.
